I went to a Writing Group, and wanted to be able to deploy changes to my website in the same meeting.
However, Markor and SyncThing can only synchronize files.
There is not a runtime, and that entire project lives on my laptop.
I would need to pull the git repo from Codeberg, and be able to run terminal commands from my phone.
After some googling, and checking various Reddit threads, Termux seems to be the best option, and most common.
Before getting that setup however, I'm going to purchase a newer Pixel phone and get GrapheneOS setup for better security.
So the plan as of this writing is:
- Buy new Pixel 10
- Install GrapheneOS
- Install F-Droid (might already come with it)
- Install Termux
- Follow this video and setup Termux https://youtu.be/Uj21Kz-BsTs?is=KI-9H3hE1QQiisiZ
- Setup SSH keys specific to the new phone.
- Set those up on Codeberg
- Pull current version of website from Codeberg
- Make sure all needed packages and dependencies are installed. Probably gonna figure this out one at a time.
- Set up git hooks so that shared storage on the device works with Termux. The idea is that I'll be replicating the Markor + SyncThing workflow, which have their own storage. The function of the hooks is to mirror changes in the git repo to local shared storage after pulling from Codeberg.
Fun extra: Considering getting a small form factor silent keyboard, preferably one that fits very thinly into a large pocket.
